perpetual inventory control systems ensures continuous record keeping of inventories whenever any transaction takes place. It also ensures the close monitoring of every physical transaction. Continuously taking the inventory is part and parcel of the perpetual inventory control system.

It ensures that the book records reflect the true physical balance, and at the same time reveals any discrepancies, if any, in the book balances and the physical balance of the items in store
