Hi everyone, I'm confused with the different variants of ACCA papers. Is the ACCA papers(except Law and Taxation papers) are all the same worldwide? Eg. no matter where the country you come from, and during the exam, everyone will get the exactly same questions? My curiousity arised when I surfed the ACCA website --> Pass year exam papers section, I discovered something looks like this:

I wonder why each exam papers(F7, F8, F9 for example) are being arranged in the various variants (HKG, INT, IRL, MYS, SGP, UK...)? Is there any any difference between those papers since there are neither Law nor Taxation papers?[/img]

Hi jactval
It’s not that only law and tax papers have variants but accounting and auditing papers also have variants. Papers F3, F4, F6, F7, F8, P1, P2, P4, P6, and P7 offer more than one variants. Rest of the papers are same worldwide.
If you visit the sample exam papers section of any of the above papers, it is mentioned that there is more than one stream / adaptations / variants for this paper. There are two basic streams - International and UK. Adapted papers are based on either the International or UK stream. They take the basic paper to which changes are made to currency units and also to reflect relevant accounting or auditing standards. Variant papers are written by specialist examiners in each country. Questions will be completely different in each country but the scope of the syllabus and the standard of each examination is the same.
To ensure that the ACCA qualification is relevant to all students worldwide, ACCA has different streams and offers variant and adapted papers. One needs to choose the relevant stream / variant / adaptation depending on his / her country, career plans, employer, availability of tuition etc.
Hope this helps.

Let's say I am currently a nation of A's country, but intends to seek for employment in B's country. So does is advisory for me to do my ACCA at B's country and take B's country stream of variant exam papers?

Hi
Yes if Country B variant and tuitions / study materials are available, it would be advised to choose Country B variant. While choosing stream / variant, you need to consider:
the country where you currently work or study;
where you hope to work in the future;
who you work for (e.g. a local or a multinational company);
what tuition is available locally; and
what the rules are regarding recognition to become a registered auditor in your country.

I'm getting love this forum as the community members here are very helpful and able to provide me with the reliable and useful information instead of spam my threads with crap.
I'm actually at my junction now. Whether to do my ACCA at A's country or B's country. Since I would like to start my career at B's country but I wish to become a registered accountant/auditor at A's country(since A's country will be my homeland, someday I may come back too).
Let's say someone doing ACCA first 7 papers at A's country, and the rest 7 papers at B's country, will this end up with the person become registered accountant neither A's nor B's country? Would he be rejected by both countries as to become registered accountant?
i dont think it matters where you have taken ur exams. ACCA is recognised worldwide and everyone gets the same certifications i.e. from ACCA . i initially studied in india, registered for ACCA while i was working in bahrain and started giving my exams only now that i have moved to the uk

I am from Mozambique, student at Eduardo Mondlane University in the course of Honours degree in Accounting and Finance (Finalist). I am interest to continue my studying at ACCA, but in my country there is not that qualification. I have possibility to do the exams at South Africa. In this case I would like to know what is necessary to do the registration and if there is an equivalence in both degrees.

U will have to mail ACCA and check if ur degree is eligible for exemptions!
I dont think the registration process is different for candidates with different background qualification!
Since u have a degree and ur age is above 21 I think u will have to enter ACCA through MAture Entry Route!
For further details check:
www.accaglobal.com
or mail acca with ur query and they will get back 2 u with all the details u need!
