View Full Version : Easy, average or hard?
I'm going to sit for F7 and F9 this Dec sitting, and i would like to ask what key issues or things that i should pay attention to? Any idea of whether the first exam session questions under the new syllabus will easy, average or hard?

Hi there,
With regards to the new exams, whenever a syllabus changes, it is harder to predict what the examiners will do. Having looked at the pilot paper for F7, it is very similar to previous 2.5 papers. Having said that remember that ALL questions are now compulsory so it means you can not have any really weak areas!
To give you some guidance:
1) ensure you are completely comfortable with consolidation. you must know how to prepare a consolidated balance sheet/income statement; deal with intragroup transactions and unrealised profits; calculate goodwill and also minority interests.
2) you should also practice question no 2 (in pilot paper) style questions, i.e. be able to prepare and income statement and balance sheet from a TB and make adjustments
3) Tangible assets is always examined for 10 marks or so - ensure you know about revaluations, impairments, investment properties etc etc
Hope this helps - will get someone to post something on F9 later today.
Good luck and let's help you Get Through!

F7 sure has the most similar feeling to the previous 2.5 paper in terms of exam and syllabus it is 2.4 that has seen the biggest turn around....:) And yeah nice to see old timers in here.
