Hi i am jibran and its my first post although being a member for quite a while now. I am glad that GTG is arranging a seminar in karachi. i would be glad if i can be a part of this too. i would prefer being at anis hassans gulshan campus.
i also have a question regarding the GTG material that, are its publishers here in pakistan specifically in karachi, going to publish the keynotes and students guide (f4 onwards). also p series isnt available yet when is it expected. one more thing, can we purchase power point slides for home use that u only give to teachers.
Thanx.

Dear Jizb4u,

Thanks for your interest in GTG Seminar in Karachi which is currently in a contingent state. You will be welcomed to the seminar , I'll let you know once the program is finalised.

I have seen the Keynotes and Students notes in Karachi @ aljamia bookshop and in future GTG will certainly publish the keynotes and all other materials and would inshallah be available in karachi.

Re publishing of P series and purchasing the powerpoint slides , I am sure the Admin would tell you about it soon.

Best Regards,

Acid

Hi Acid,
Thanks for the reply, but i would like to inform you that the student notes for f1 f2 and f3 are available but not for f4 thru f9 even the key notes arent available. i talked to the concerned person of pbp quite a while ago (before exams) but his response was that it will be available soon, yet i havent seen any of their publications since then. i am also in constant touch with aljamia and commerce book point. can u please let me know about this.

i have one question regarding the syllabus that, isnt IAS 10 Events after balance sheet date in our course of f7. if it is where can i find it in your book as i have searched for it but couldnt find it.
Thanks.

Hi,

1. PBP in Pakistan have been licenced to print/publish our books and therefore it is their decision to print/publish titles which they think appropriate. The more requests that are made to them for our materials, the more they will be inclined to sell the books, so you must all keep asking them for GTG materials.

2. Student notes are currently ONLY available for F1-F3 as we have been heavily concentrating on writing/publishing the P series. The remaining Student Notes will be available next season (@July/Aug 08) for exams in Dec 08/June 09.

3. Study text for P1, P2, P4 & P5 are available now, with the others to follow soon.

4. Student notes, Question banks & Key notes for P series will be produced after all the P series texts are ready. Probably about June/July.

5. ALL books that have been printed are available to purchase on our website directly from ourselves http://www.getthroughguides.co.uk/acatalog ) If not available from your local distributor/agent.

6. Powerpoint slides are produced for colleges/institutions who adopt our materials for their courses and are made to suit the client. They are not available to purchase.

I hope I have provided some clarity above.
Please bear in mind that this is the 1st edition of our materials and it has only been a matter of months since we have launched.

There are always teething problems and we our doing our utmost to resolve these as they arise.

Best regards

Hi

IAS 10 - Evens after the reporting period is an important accounting standard for the F7 exam. IAS 10 deals withe the treatment of adjusting for events after the reporting period.
When events occur after the statement of financial position date and before the financial statements are authorised , we need to know how do we account for such standards.. Either adjusting our accounts or making a disclosure by way of notes. In order to make that decision we should know if we are aware of the conditions that actually existed at the reporting period in which case we will have to adjust our accounts or have we just been made aware of the conditions that arose after the reporting period in which case we will only have to give disclosure.

Adjusting events - Those events that provide evidence of conditions actually existed at the end of the reporting period , albeit they were not known at time . WE should adjust our accounts.
Non Adjusting events - Those post reporting period events that are indicative of conditions that arose after the end of the reporting period. , WE need to disclose in the notes.

Hope this helps
