I do not own a get through guide as yet but I have a bpp book. In chp 9 under topic 2 minority interest the first example 2.2 shows minority interest calculated on the S co. subsidiary Equity - Ordinary share capital & reserves. In the next question, minority interest is calculated by using net assets of the subsidiary. Why do these two examples differ?

Dear Micmarton,

As we dont have a bpp book with us and neither the question which you are talking about . You are advised that you should not discuss the queries related to other publishers. The Forum is supported by GetThroughGuides.

The Minority interest is calculated on the Net Assets of the subsidary which means Ordinary sharecaptial + Reserves. So that means they mean the same thing . Ordinary sharecapital + Reserves collectively means the Net assets of the company.

Hope that answers your query and should you require any further assistance dont forget to get in touch.
