Hiya..

I hope someone might be off help.

Advanced Taxation (UK)

If a UK non-dom dies and is liable to pay death duty in the domiciled country irrespective of domicile, can you deduct the tax liability of the estate calculation for inheritance tax purposes?

Hope this makes sense

Cheers Gitte

Hi Gitte,

I was a little confused with your question...

A non-Uk domiciled person is only liable to UK IHT on assets in the UK.
If that person is liable to IHT in another country on assets located overseas, that IHT cannot be deducted from the UK IHT liability.

This is not the same for a person who is UK domiciled. They will be liable to IHT on world wide assets. If IHT is paid overseas, this can be deducted from their UK IHT liability,

Cheers,
