Hi
I would like to know about what should be the approach to study ACCA - full time or part time?
I'd think it would depends on many factors. Like
1- The type of intership/job you get.
2- The working enviornment , How much time do they give you to support your studies
3- The nature of job - how far does ur job support your studies. Is it job tiring or not.
4- Timing of Job i.e. Night or day.
And how far can you balance your work and studies time.
It also depends upon country to country. In Pakistan expect a part 2 Qualified ACCA to work for no less then 10 hours in a job . In KSA expect no less then 8 hours to do the job.

Hi Acid
Thanks for your reply. But supposing that work environment and job is not that supportive, is it possible to manage studies along with a full time job?

I dont think so! Although it depends person to person , but the working envoirnment should be supportive. And I think from F7 , F8 carrying both things together becomes tough.
However there r many people who are doing it ( Although I personally dont know any ;)) so we can also do it! That should be the spirit.
FOR ME Its theoratically possible and practically hard , very hard!

Ok thanks!
Can anyone doing full time job along with studies guide me on this?
On a more personal note I would recommend a practical approach instead of a full time study approach to ACCA because if you work in an audit firm and the work that you do or come across is bound to help in your future papers , for instance in auditing and many other papers it can be extremely helpful and make things a lot easier as opposed to say a person studying full time who will find it very tough to grasp a practical paper of F8 sorts.Even papers like F7 Financial Reporting can be aided by his/her work experience and have a better grasp and understanding and will know their application better because you have experienced it practically or I would put it as in the real world thing.
While working , you can attempt 2 papers an exam session if you are not able to withstand the rigours of working with it and see how you cope with it.Otherwise worldwide students do appear in 3 or 4 papers at a stretch and also continue their job committments in the 9 am to 5 pm framework and then take evening classes on the weekends. It is a tough proposition no doubt but its not something which has not been achieved before so considering so many toppers in ACCA exams are in majority either: a)Have loads of work experience.
b)Are working in prestigious firms and appearing in their exams at the same juncture.
I also wanted this approach but unfortunately due to strange timing of classes of F6 and F7 it did not materialise.Anyway I hope my opinion is of some help to you.Best of luck.
