Folks,

most text books discuss the IAS, and the SSAPs, and SAPs only part by part. They do not reproduce the standards fully.
in my opinion, the standards need to be read as full text and textbooks do not cover it that way.
can anybody share the complete set with me (verbatim)?

Copy Vandana,
Does the GTG books include the entire standards verbatim (NOT SUMMARY) in it. It will go a very long way for students to read these thoroughly since thats the best way. OR is the full standards available only for qualified ACCA members (they will be experts on them anyway)

The thought of what you suggest gives me goosebumps. I think as an ACCA Student I wont prefer anything next to my GTG Studytext and plus few reading over the internet and students accountant magazine.

Ofcourse when i say that , I am overriding the prinicple of "being upto date" but i dont think that , that principle needs to be stressed out at this level when giving the F paper , unless ofcourse you are a scholarly minded person or a nerd.

Cheers

Hi,

We do not reproduce the whole standards - you can, hoever, buy the handbook from the IFAC if you want to read the standards. I agree with the others - it will give you too much information at this stage and I am not sure it would add much value. It is better to have the standards broken down and matched to the learning outcome needed.

Hi,
am agree with vandana, because,I have bought seperate book for IAS, you know in actual,I tried to read and match with F7 but really very hard to match with this paper,so my suggestion just go through only one with GTG,
Thanks.

Hi Acid,

I studied from GTG study text only and I feel it is quiet sufficient for your exams. Reading the whole standards would be rather good but will take a lot of your time. To get through F7 besides reading and learning, you need a lot of practice to solve the problems. There are questions always on consolidation and final accounts both carrying 25 marks each. To solve these questions you need to practice and solve a couple of past exam papers. There is a question on variance or cash flow and some theory questions. You need to practice a lot, so I feel rather than putting your time in readying and understanding the whole of the standards (which you can do later when you have endless time ) to get through your exams you should read your study text to understand the required parts of the standards and practice the question bank and past exam papers as much as you can. GTG question bank is very helpful as all types of questions asked in this December exams were there in the question bank which I had solved thrice.

If you are not very sure of F8. Then what I suggest you is take only F7 and F6 this December. F6 is tough as it has got all types of taxes and the rates change this time and so the books for it will be available only in mid Feb or skip F6 and take F8.

Hope this helps

Hi,

All the best for your results and I wish you get through so that it will be easy for you to prepare for F7 and F8.

Hey guys,

The F6 (UK) DEC 07 Questions and answers are now available on the acca website. I am relieved and even afraid after seeing them. Hopefully it seems what I did was right but we cant pass any judgement!

Wish all F6 guys the best for the result!
