Hi
I know it is very disheartening that you couldnt make it through P7 but hats off to you for your patience. One key point you should keep in mind is to understand the key requirement verbs of the question like, 'explain', 'describe' etc. Also study the important topics from the exam point of view.
If you are always with us on the forum and use GTG material, I am sure you will get through your exam. So dont worry and keep studying.
Best wishes.
Hey..
Yes, 2 much attempt on one paper can be a de-motivating factory..
But dnt worry ... JUST HOLD IN THERE!
So dnt give up and Keep Trying!
U mite wana change the way U attempt Ur paper... Jst as D earlier post suggest: The Use of Verb is vital for professional papers!
U mite also try and get in touch with students who already sat their P7 and passed... Just take their insite on how they attempt their papers and wat their expectations to Advance Audit were... Compare those with Ur techniques!
P7 can be very daunding... With the amount of Stuff to learn and get a grip on..!
Do Ur Kits well.. One technique i used for the First Question: The Identification of Risk in a business was that i made a tabular format of all such questions in the kit, One column for the Risk involved and the Other for the Reason why its a risk. And i jut kept of writing THE IDUSTRY the business was operating in as well as the Risk involved with the reason in the 2nd column. This Technique helped me understand what kind of risks were commom in different industry sectors! and helped me better memorise the risk in auditing and business!
Create Ur own approach...!
Also, since u failed by jst 2% there is a 95% probability that had u written two three points more in any one questions.. u mite have gained an extra 2%.. So next time.. instead of jst wirting 3 points for a 3 marks question write 5! (Just in case if u got 1-2 wrong)
Good Luck Dis Session!
Remeber Those WHo Give Up R D 1ze Who ACtually Fail!

Hi all,
I am a strong believer in the saying that 'ACTIONS ARE A MANIFESTATION OF THE MIND' this simply means whatever action we do it is the cordination of what the mind has commanded.that is why positive thinking is very important.so my dear Vindra this semester start telling your mind that you are passing and all your actions will be towards passing.dont give up and discourage yourself. You are passing P7 this time around provided you start thinking like that.
Acid no response to messages whats up. what are you writing this semester.i have tried to be active on the P3 BIT but it seems there is no response from others giving P3 ,However i will not relent i will keep on going and keep telling my mind that am getting through P1 and P3!
Hi Vivie,
Sorry that I was unable to reply to your message, I think I didnt had net access when I got your messages. Now days I am busy in my OBU Research and analysis project and preparing for P5, P7 and P2($^@*^).
You must keep going on study sessions and make them in a way easier for you, I suggest you use the forum to write notes here instead on paper and you must than review these notes before exams. I remind you that P3 is a really difficult and massive paper and require much time.
Thank you for your motivating words and I am determined to flaunt my ACCA Affiliate status to you guys , this August (keeping in mind the message in your signature)...
Let me know If you need any help in P3 and P1
Best Wishes and stay in touch .
Dont give up dear...U have reached so far...just a lil more...
It is 1 of the more difficult papers...
A lecturer advised that a really sound knowledge of the IASs & IFRSs & ability to explain each standard-essential to passing this paper...
All the best...We will pass in June 2009!
Hi Vrinda,
I am very sorry for not being prompt in replying.
I feel that in addition to the tips given above, you should go through the P7 examiner's reports (they are specific to each exam). In the reports, examiner analyses the question paper and states what she expects students to write. You should also go through examiner's interview and other technical articles on the ACCA website.
In addition to thorough knowledge of IFRSs and ISAs you should be well conversant with the current developments. The examiner said that there will be at least one requirement on the current issues. Also, this knowledge will help you to write other questions in a better way.
GTG question bank contains many tips such as understand the verb properly, how to deal with case study based questions. It also gives, what is bad answer, how to score more etc. It is worth going through the question bank.
Tip
If you are asked to write audit procedures for ..... Do not only write the procedure but also state the assertions that the procedure will test. Especially for the risks and audit procedure questions always write HOW and WHY.
Ask us if you have any specific queries.
All the best!
Hi,
Often students lose marks due to wrong interpretation of the requirement. Following are the verbs commonly found in the examination question. They require to be dealt in the following ways:
(i) Identify : Pick out a relevant issue / point from the scenario (list the issues)
(ii) Comment on: Offer an opinion, debate a topic, express a reaction
(iii) Explain: Clarify and provide extra details on a subject matter
(iv) Evaluate / assess: Weigh up advantages and disadvantages and make a judgement
(v) Critically discuss: Consider a subject in depth and come to an opinion
(v) Justify: Come to a conclusion and provide a strong argument for a decision
(vi) Contrast: Make a comparison
I hope this helps!
Regards
Viji
