Hi Alisha,

P3 is an easy subject if ones concepts are clear.
There are four questions and all are application based.
One can answer application questions only if theory is perfectly understood.

I would suggest you to go through the topics in the subject thoroughly. Understand the models and the strategies given in the subject. Prepare brief notes of your own while studying. Note down the importants points you understood in a particular chapter.

When concepts will be clear, it will be easy to answer any questions in the exam.

Hope it helps.
If you have any further querries, feel free to ask anytime.

Hi Alisha,

a word of advice, whenever you learn a new theory for this paper, try to find a real life example for the theory - it makes it much more memorable. If you are stuck, then let us know and we will provide you with one as much as we can!

This december P3 paper Que 1 seemed bit off the mark as it was difficult to introduce models in the answer. any suggestions which model could have been applied in the answer?

Q1 was a challenging question. In part a, it is a straightforward SW analysis, so no model really needed there - just a good understanding of what ONA's distinctive competences are.

In part b, you could use value chain analysis to analyse where value was created in ONA and why it would be difficult to make this low cost

In part c you could use the strategic clock to come up with other options.

From discussions with Steve Skidmore at ACCA conferences, Steve is seems keen on seeing students use the models to generate ideas, which they can then write about. SO don't worry if you can not find a relevant model, as long as you can generate ideas. Later on in the season, we will be showing you how to tackle this and other questions, so you can improve your style. Good luck with your next papers!

Hi Saxenashi,

The question demands to explain the scenario with the help of strategy clock.

Thanks Alice,
Most of the candidates I interacted with after completion of exam, haven't applied any model in Q1. Don't know how our answers would be taken by the evaluator???

Hi,

don't worry - in this question you could score without using models. The models as I said, are just tools to help you generate ideas. If you generated ideas without them - no problem!!!

Hi Saxenashi,

Dont worry, if your reasonings will be correct, you will get some marks for the same.:)

Model are important , it values how much you know about the topics u r discussing . So learn them well so that you can apply them anywhere.

The best way is practice practice practice. So why don't you post a question here and encourage people to answer online?

P 3 seems rather daunting to me because my lecturer advised that in this paper if you choose the wrong model then you get zero marks
