Exam is fast appraoching. We basically have approximately three months left before exams. I think we should work together to help each other pass this. I was thinking that we can set a time for each of us to meet to start a study group.

Reading and review:
The GTG text for F8 has seven section. We can try to finish reading our entire text by the 31st March 2009. This includes weekends. I know it sounds hard but with teem effort we can make it.

The timetable:
28th Feb 09: Read Section A- Discussion on Audit Framework and Regulation.

5th March 09: Read Section B- Discussion on Internal Audit

12th March 09: Read Section C- Discussion on Planning and Risk Assesment

18th March 09: Read Section D- Discussion on Internal Controls

24th March 09: Read Section E- Discussion on Audit Evidence

28th March 09: Read Section F- Discussion on Review

31st March 09: Read Section G- Discussion on Reporting

During the discussion we can have exam type questions relating to each particular topic. We can also have real live siuations about a paticular topic.
I intend for our discussion to be fun and informative. Best of all I intend for all of us to have a part of this so we can be able to sit our exam on 3rd June 2009 and pass with high marks.

Please post me you opinions. I'm hoping we can start on 28th Feb 09. What time will be appropriate to have this discussion and what other thing can be added to make our discussion more beneficial? I welcome your opinions.

Thanks for joining. We need to confirm a time. Anybody have and suggestions about what time we can have our study group?

Also we need to cover Section A- Audit Framework and Regulation of the GTG text book before the 28th Feb 09 so that we can all be able to participate fully. So we need to start reading from now.

If you dont have the GTG text dont worry. You are still welcome to join. You can use what ever study material you have once it pertains to the topic Audit Framework and Regulation on the 28th Feb 09. We will be taking it one step at a time so no one will be confused or lost.

Our goal is to pass F8 so together we shall acheive that goal!!

That's a really good question.
This is how it will work:
In this tread i have placed our discussion time table. Soon i will also put in on the calenda. If you look at it you will notice that our first discussion will be on 28th Feb 09. This is to allow other members to join. But that does not mean that we will be resting while we wait. We need to read about Audit Framework and Regulation before the 28th so we can participate fully.

I will open a new thread before the 28th for us to have our disscussion. So look out for it.

I need to confirm a time that will be good for everyone though due to the time zones.

I am joining this discussion group and I am interested in contributing tremendously. It will be a value added. I wish every one of us best of luck as we start the preparation.

I will however, advise that we start the discussion with prayer for God's Guidance and direction. This prayer should be in our various form of religion. I belief that once we put God first, He will surely see us through and success shall be ours. Cheers!

Hi, I'm also thinking about this exam. Are you taking F8 international or UK version.
Which material is the best? Kaplan, Bpp or GTG?
I heard that after reading Kaplan text book students are not able to answer questions from the Kit book.
Please advise me! I need to order some study material

Hi Noel

These dates are clashing with the Saturdays that i set for the F6 Sessions

Can we fashion out the time such that we don't have sessions clashing.

We can go ahead with the first Session alright but subsequent ones might clash unless we change the timing to say F8 in the morning and F6 at say noon.

Can we do something about that?

Thanks

Hi George,
Welcome,

The F8 live sessions are normally around 5.00pm GMT, any one can join in. Its usually Qn, answer and discussion sessions.
I missed last week so I'm unable to tell you what the topic is this week.
I have found the people on this forum very helpful and friendly.

If you miss anything you can normally catch up through the threads.
Regards,
Kelly

I WOULD LIKE TO JOIN ALSO. I HAVE A KAPLAN BOOK BUT THAT IS NOT GOOD FOR AUDITING.

I heard that BPP is better for theoretical papers compared to kaplan and Kaplan is better for the number crunching papers. each has its advantages and disadvantages. I would use anyone, it does not matter to me.

I do not have any GTG texts but will be getting them for my Dec sitting cause I like what I see in the sample chapters.
