Hi all,

I know that many of you are studying on your own. We at GTG want to support you in whatever way we can. Can you please let us know what would help you with your studying and we will see if we can provide it. We are hoping to bring out a comprehensive distance learning product for the June exams and you can help ensure it is exactly what you need. So fire away! Please send some replies telling us what you need.

Regards,

Vandana :)

Hi

What matters most to me about my distance learning package most is a good tutor service . A tutor to whom I can send in queries , doubts and troubles and expect a reply soon which is usually with in 48 hours and mostly even within a day or few hours.

I cant think of any second thing which is as important to me as the perfect tutor support because usually everthing is covered by study texts.

E learning was also a good experience as in the final days , a time comes when one should definitely review his study text but a person is so exhausted that climbing mountains seems much easier then to get hold of studytext. E learning is just the same but little condensed and more interactive way of studying . Last session i was offered the ilearn as a gift so it was obviosuly a bit sweeter then it was :D

Also , some tution providers offer a study guide to help studying the study text but i dont think it had ever been helpful or interesting for me.

So my perfect distance learning choice would be the one with best tutors and a goood e learning !

Cheers

Hi,

I agree but I think video form wont be very suitable as a revision course. However study techniques can be done in video form .Like make a video talking about good study techniques and effective revision etc.

For a revision course , That would be better done in text via email . This option should be available seperately so those who want to embark a revision course can take it seperately.

These are all great ideas. We are working on some products along these lines. I think the video concept could be useful for showing how to tackle an exam standard question.

Hi

I just got an idea which is a blend of many experiences I had. The Tutor support would be via email/telephone but always its from email.

I think an innovative idea would be to let the student interact with Tutors on Chatbox to discuss relevant topic which requires a better understanding. But as there would be many students and it wont be possible to chat with tutors all the day , we can make a timetable for specified user whenever tutor have a free time. This option could complement the tutor support via email but only for few times ie. once a week .

Cheers!

thats a great idea. As a refinement to it, you can additionally implement a queing system in the same way as they do on the phones - eg. so at the appointed hour, when the tutor comes online, he/she may be deluged by students by the time you log on, so the system says "you are 15th in the queue and will take approx 1 hour before your turn." that way you are not waiting around as much.

Those ideas sound great and I would use them esp the video revision course to be able to watch someone tell you the key points and be able to play it back as many times as you need would be great and it would not need to cost as much as a classroom course. Also being able to use the Chatbox to talk to tutor is good.

The tutor support should be via email/phone and also the suggestion above to chat with the tutor can be of a great advantage or perhaps the USP of GTG.

Hi.

Here are a few things that could be added with the distance learning to make it even more useful.

-MP3 Downloads One for learning and one for revision (mp3 download for the study text- to reinforce learning more)
- study text, pocket notes, and exam kit via cd/pdf- to use on pc/laptop
-Videoconferencing - lectures on each chapter/topic and key topics
-Web Conferencing
-question practice -email-a-day-email-a-day - to stay on top of ouf study. Email-a-day could interact with us to remedy weaker areas
-More Webcasts & Live class recordings-so we won’t miss out on classroom tuition as all classes are recorded and posted online.
-Monitor progress with Hurdle & Progress Tests-To Consolidate knowledge and perfect exam technique with timed tests.
