job in Germany

Hello everybody, I live in UK and I have some knowledge in taxation systems of our country. Right now I have been presented a job in Germany and I have been told that the taxation system there is much higher than the UK, as they use a direct taxation system as opposed to VAT as here in the UK! I am little confused about this. I need your help. Can anyone detailed on this?

Hi,

Basically, from my understanding, German tax is at higher rates than UK rates for employed people (45% highest rate). Other than that, we do not have detailed guidelines. You could try reseraching on the internet,
