Hello everybody!

I want to know what is the best way of studying for the acca exams. The reason is that when I did CAT I did not have much problems studying and attending classes for 4 -5 months before exams; but now that i am doing acca i am wondering if i should skip a sitting in order to gain more time for studying. I have not been grasping enough of the material by the time exams comes around. I would like to know what your views are where studying time is concern.

Waiting your response.

Hello there!

I am the new moderator of this F5 forum.

I would first ask you few questions and then can help you more.
- are you a full time student? Or working somewhere?
- when are you planning to give exam?
- are you sitting for more than 1 paper at a time?
- have gathered the study material?

In general I can advice you to prepare a time schedule including the initial understanding of the chapters, revision and solving past exam papers. Do practice more and more questions.

thanks hetal for responding!

i am working full time and I attend classes in the evenings. I sat f5 and f6 first time in june 08 but I failed both. I am going to repeat f6 in the dec 08 sitting. i normally try to attempt only 2 papers at each sitting. I have text books and a kit.

So you are preparing for F6 right now.
All the very best as exam are very near.

You are most welcome to ask on the areas you are not getting under "F6 forum".

Hey Lawrence!

You need to manage your time in such a way that you can give enough time to your studies along with your job.
As you are a fulltime employee, you need to keep time for studies in weekends and after your job hours!
I would suggest you to first go through the F5/ F6 Study Guides, understand the concepts, solve the TYs and SEQs. Practice the past exam paper questions also.

Read some useful articles whenever time permits!
such as examiner's approach etc. They are available on ACCA website.

And in case of any difficulty , We will be happy to help.

Hi,

Well I suggest strictly follow the study planner and my tip to you would be "Be constant and Consistent", and I think you will be get through for sure.

Let me tell you that I will also be taking F5 in Dec 09 so we can both get in touch and study together.

Hi Rahul,

You can post all your subject related queries on "Learning Support Forum - Restricted Access" for F5 as instructed by the DL admin. Currently you are posting your queries on "Learning Support Forums - Open Access" for F5. You can interact with fellow students on the open access forum and ask your queries to students / GTG subject experts. The restricted access forum is exclusively for DL students where you can get dedicated tutor support and extra resources.

Thanks & Regards

I believe for one to do well in F5, you need to understand the basic principles of things and then study scenario questions on how to apply the principles to scenario questions. What i have learnt about F5 is that you have to practice more questions and compare your answers with that of the examiners, assess your answer based on that for weak and strong points and continue practising until you are improving both in writting logical points and the application part of the question. I strongly recommend that dec 09 Backflush will be examined
