Would marks be awarded if my answers is short but to the points ? Or do i have to explain all of them in detail in order to obtain marks. Please advise. Thanks.

Examples like responsibilities of External auditor

1) Plan the audit plan
2) Reasonable assurance
3) Identify material error
4) incidence with audit/ fraud error

Examples like responsibilities of internal auditor
1) Assist
2) To recommend
3) To advise
4) Check
5) Monitor

Hi mei mei,

How studies are going on? Stressing your limits?

Regarding your query, writing answers in brief depends upon what question you are answering.
Like if you are answering the question where audit procedures has to be given, then your answer should be in such a way that any junior audit assistant will also understand the procedure and can conduct the audit based on your answer.

The short answer is sufficient to obtain marks but the basic questions like why, who, by whom, to whom, what etc should not arise. In your examples, the points given are not self explanatory. They are not complete because basic questions are not answered.

For example, in the case of responsibilities of internal auditor, the first point is to assist. The first question will arise in the mind of examiner is ‘to whom?’, ‘why?’. The next points also do not provide the answers like to recommend ‘what?’, to check ‘what?’.

Also in the case of responsibilities of external auditor, plan the audit plan ‘how?’, reasonable assurance ‘of what?’ etc.

Due to these unanswered questions, the points seem incomplete and the first impression in the mind of examiner would be you don’t know it so you haven’t written it. So avoid this and write the answer in short but complete in every angle.

it depends on what they ask you really, a list would be fine for short answer but if they say explain, discuss etc then you will have to go into more depth, also look at the mark allocation eg if they give you 5 marks for 5 repsonsibilities its probably going to be short answer

How is your preparation, friends? I would like to suggest a few basic points while answering the question.
While presenting your answer it explains that how you understood the concept and how do you present it.
So, see that you answer in such a way that

You are providing a view to the examiner how you understood the topic
How you are relating theory to the scenario
How frequent you are referring to the practical situation mentioned in the question so that examiner would understand how you are providing for the solution to the given problem.
Make sure to provide sufficient details of theory, bearing in mind that each relevant point will add in the marks.
