Im not able to understand this:
--------------------------------------------------------
The purchase consideration was made up of:
A share exchange of one share in Parentis for two shares in Offspring
The issue of $100 10% loan note for every 500 shares acquired; and
A deferred cash payment of 11 cents per share acquired payable on 1 April 20X7.
Parentis has only recorded the issue of the loan notes. The value of each Parentis share at the date of acquisition
was 75 cents and Parentis has a cost of capital of 10% per annum.

At 31st march X7
Equity shares of 25 cents each - 300 m
Retained earnings – 1 April 20X6 - 210 m
--------------------------------------------------------

So how much share capital and Share premium will we show in the consolidated Statement of Financial position?

here's the answer:
------------------------
Equity and liabilities
Equity attributable to owners of the parent
Equity shares 25c (300 + 75 ) 375m
Share premium 150m
Retained earnings (W8) 264m
------------------------

Can someone please explain this to me.. How did this 375 and 150m come ? Please help me out this is driving me crazy.

equity and share premium are needed to add something is when there is share exchange for acquisition of subsidiary.

so,parentis use one share to acquire two shares of offspring,[exchange of 600m shares]meaning:
1P---->2O
?P---->600m shares

so,parentis used 600mx1/2=300m of its own shares to exchange with 600m of offspring's shares.

then,CR equity shares (300mx$0.25) 75m
CR share premium (300mx$0.50*) 150m

*$0.50=$0.75-$0.25(par value)

can u understand?
