Q - What is the resource based view of strategy?


Resource based view of strategy looks at what the organization have in term of resources like manpower , technology etc and the level of competencies it have against the background of what is being demanded . It aims to make a strategic fit.

For example : For people of KasKito who havent drank water since last 1 year , the best thing for an organization to do business is to sell them water.

This sounds to me more like targeting a niche market or filling the market gaps if you really have resources to do so.

but if the organisation does not have the necessary resources which is manpower, technology, skills than i dont think it will be able to carter to the needs of the market nor will it be able to make a niche.
would'nt a strategic fit be like a glove? if it fits the company profile then wear it?
