Hallo!

I went to Earnst and Young yesterday after I saw on the websites that they have Internship programmes for undergraduate students for Summer for 1month time. They had brilliantly put up the internship application form and brochure on the website.

I filled the internship application form along with a small CV type profile and went to their office.

I went there as asked the receptionist to put be to the guy with whom I spoke on phone a day before and he told me to come to the office.

The guy never appeared for 3 hours . Then I meet another employee there . He saw my documents told me that there is no summer training or internships here in our office and I should go back home .

Then he told the receponist to unlock the door , gave me my documents and told me to go straight home!

I dont want to say much to remain ethical.

The point is . although EY Saudi arabia website showed all internship applications and brochures but infact they had no such thing like that!

I think the only reason they put that up on the website is that because they wanted to show their parent company that they are following the ethical guidelines like students training , internship etc. while they dont have any processs or implementation for that!

On the otherhand my friend in UAE applied the same way, got a call from the office and was told to come and do 1month internship but on request it was extended for 2months!

See the difference? Who can explain us the reason for such differences?

So I am determined now never to go Earnst and young ever again for anything!

It was so embrassing!

never mind, you know in my country we have a saying "when one door close many more will open"
sometimes disappointment open our eyes to reality and who to tell a better one will come up.

very wise saying by Joy .

But I am amazed to this such irrational behaviour on the part of the firm!

Very dissappointing.
3 years ago, i applied for internship with a International audit firm and i faced almost a similar situation.

But friends be rest assured. There are a lot of opportunities out there.
I am now the Accounts manager of one of the biggest export companies in Ghana after i was recruited to do an internship with one local firm.

You can start from the local firms and you may be actually employed by the international audit firms.

Normally they prefer people with some level of experience.

Another thing is also that they only accept for internships when their work demands are high and need more hands to meet their deadlines.

Dont worry, before you qualify you will surelly have a place for your internship.

that is what i am talking about, sometimes the disappointment can hurt as you are really relying on it but in the long run you will see you are better off without them.
