AIM AND MAIN CAPABILITIES OF P1

AIM

To apply relevant knowledge, skills and exercise
professional judgement in carrying out the role of
the accountant relating to governance, internal
control, compliance and the management of risk
within an organisation, in the context of an overall
ethical framework.

MAIN CAPABILITIES

On successful completion of this paper, candidates
should be able to:


A Define governance and explain its function in
the effective management and control of
organisations and of the resources for which
they are accountable


B Evaluate the professional accountant’s role in internal control, review and compliance


C Explain the role of the accountant in identifying
and assessing risk


D Explain and evaluate the role of the accountant
in controlling and mitigating risk


E Demonstrate the application of professional
values and judgement through an ethical
framework that is in the best interests of
society and the profession, in compliance with
relevant professional codes, laws and

I have F8 and P1 in my sights for the Dec 08 session.

I am using the ****** materials for F8 since I've always used them although I have to decide between GTG and the former for P1 since P1 is a new addition for all the publishers. Either way I think Corp Gov is still the same irrespective of what study material I'm using.

I don't know if you have the group together as yet but once you do I'd suggest we break up the syllabus into the respective areas. Everybody in the group could get a chapter alloted. They would be responsible for summarizing the chapter into understandable doses and posting the summary on the board.

If they can manage perhaps some self-test questions and an exam-type question could also be suggested for review by the entire group.

I'll leave the mechanics of the group to you and look forward to commencing our study session soon.

Btw any tips for F8 as I can see (from the F8 forum) you guys had an interesting time during your F8 preparation for the June 08 exam session.

Yar as GTG is currently unavailable in Pakistan for P series so you buy the studytext and look at my PM in your inbox.

I recently bought get through guides for P1 and by running through it i'm impressed its comprehensive and understandable, i'm thinking of purchasing it for the other papers. Acid I have gotten the P1 Text as suggested by you.I haven't gotten around to starting the chapters as I was reading the P1 Syllabus and Study Guide but with the start of the BIT sessions that'll change.

Please let me know when u kickstart the BIT sessions and if you could spare the time a brief guide on the modus operandi of these sessions would be appreciated as I'm relatively new to it.

I live in Zambia and would like to order GTG materials for P1 and F8 for the first time. This is because these are highly discursive papers and i need to understand the topics. i have heard that gtg books are clear and easy to grasp.
My problem is that i have gone through the catalogue section and have failed to understand the procedures. i need these books like yesterday as i havent even started studying up to now.

Please can i be assisted by anyone in the shortest possible time so that i move on.
I can see that we are going to have a great time on the P1 BITS due to the enthuthiasm exibited by everyone.

Thanks Snehal k for your prompt response. I managed to contact our agents at the address you had given me.they said that they ordered gtg materials for the last semester and it was only the F series which was up to June 2008 exams. i want to take advantage and at least buy for F8. Please advise me .is it alright for me to go aheard and buy the one for june 2008 exams? what do i do to get the other books since i also need for P1 study text and question bank and the question bank for F8.

I am not aware of any changes in F8 exam syllabus and the last session books should be valid for use this session too.
