Hi,
The first question is always a 25 mark question on consolidation. You should aim to solve this question within 45 minutes. (25% of 3 hours).
This question is usually split in two parts.
Part (a) of 20 marks is numerical.
Part (b) of 5 marks is theoretical.
I suggest that you attempt part (b) first. Jot down the points within 4-5 minutes.
In this way – you will score the easy marks. Spend the remaining time i.e 40 minutes for solving the numericals.
If you attempt the numericals first (and unfortunately get bogged down with the calculations) you may run out of time. Then you may not be able to attempt part (b) which is unfortunate as you can easily score marks from this sub-question.
Hope this helps as time management is really essential to score well in an exam!!!
All the best.
