Position: Based anywhere in the world, but with regular access to the internet and ability to use a webcam and package (e.g. Skype).
You will be responsible for proofing a suite of material for International Accountancy Examinations. It may be one subject, e.g financial accounting – intermediate level or it may be a topic for various levels, e.g consolidation from basic to advanced.
Whilst your job is not to write the material, your job will be to guide other authors to write the material, giving your inputs on what is important and relevant from both an understanding point of view and an exam perspective. Once chapters have been written by the authors, your responsibilities include:
Study text books, journals, publications, financial press and other publications, diagrams, standards, relevant internet articles / sites to suggest as sources for publications.
Confer with authors and other relevant professionals etc. to determine the best sources of material to be developed.
Technically check that the material written is correct.
Suggest designs for photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to better illustrate material.
Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
Edit, standardise, or make changes to material prepared by authors.
Analyse developments in specific fields to determine the need for revisions in previously published material for the development of new material.
Review published material and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of production and binding.
English Language – Excellent knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Accounting and finance –Either qualified ICAEW, CIMA or ACCA or equivalent with practical and theoretical knowledge of a specialised subject. Industry or practice experience required (includes adhoc consultancy and teaching experience of ACCA)
